Bulawayo City Target Quick PSL Return

BULAWAYO mayor Solomon Mguni on Thursday attended Bulawayo City, FC’s training session at St Columba’s High School and pledged the local authority’s continued support for the team with hopes of a quick return to the Premier Soccer League (PSL). Mguni, who is the patron of the club, attended the training session after he was invited by councillor Siboniso Khumalo and club chairperson Jerry Sibanda. He said the team’s drive is to concentrate on junior policy as the municipality has a responsibility to empower the youth through sport and provide entertainment to its residents. "The old and new players are shaping up and we are assured of competitive and entertaining football as the Division One municipality side fight for a quick return to the Premier Soccer League. As part of our community social responsibility, the City of Bulawayo will continue to support the club. The club executive committee’s focus going forward is on junior policy," Mguni said. "To that end, the club will be partnering with schools and social clubs to nurture and harness our young, talented children from within the city of Bulawayo. Bulawayo City FC should be a community sports development and empowerment initiative.

She said the bank was tailor-made to address problems affecting creative youths who failed to access capital to grow their businesses. "The bank has a mandate of designing and offering financial services and products tailor-made to the unique needs of young entrepreneurs and other Zimbabweans. The bank is open to all Zimbabweans with major focus on the youths," said the Deputy Minister. "The bank is therefore, here to address one of the major obstacles for youth economic participation, limited access to capital so that youths achieve effective economic empowerment. She said the bank was there to serve youths across the southern parts of the country while its management works on ensuring that it opens branches in each province. Deputy Minister Simbanegavi also urged bank staffers to be community oriented while executing their duties. She challenged young entrepreneurs not to shy away from seeking bank loans. "Youths, this is your bank and I urge you to make use of it to the full. Through its board, I will ensure that the bank continuously improves its working model to meet your ever-changing complex requirements in line with changes in technology and the economic environment that we operate in," she said.

According to the informal sector committee minutes, inadequate funding for the informal sector projects was one of the reasons. The poor revenue collection comes as Harare is now looking for partners to construct adequate structures after removing vendors from the streets. Informal sector committee chairperson Barnabas Ndira said council has instituted a number of measures to increase revenue collection. He said among those measures include introducing payment plans with members of the informal sector for maximum collection. "We have introduced a weekly blitz where council enforcement goes around with members from the housing division to collect revenue from the traders. We have also started engagement with political leaders so that vendors pay fees directly to council and not to middlemen," Ndira said. Last year, council was failing to fully accommodate all the vendors at its designated sites as they were too many.

Cde Robert Mugabe tendered his resignation as the president of Zimbabwe on the 21 st September 2017. This came about after a bloodless army intervention. The man who became a hero and fought many strong men was brought down by a woman. The President travelled From a war hero to resignation the man whose name became synonymous with Zimbabwe, resigned as president after 37 years in power. He made his mistakes but he was more Zimbabwean than fools claiming to be Zimbabweans now. He will always remain a hero who brought independence and an end to white-minority rule. Even those who forced him out blamed his wife and "criminals" around him. It is sad that the president was surrounded by vultures who only wanted to fatten their pockets and never had the country at large.

These vultures were powered by the first lady who became so blinded by power and interfered in the day to day running of the state affairs which were not hers. She failed to learn from Mao's wife of China or Nicholai Ceausescu's wife from Romania But to her critics, this highly uneducated, novice became the woman who destroyed an entire country in order to gain power. She praised corruption and snatched cases from courts. She acquitted her friends at a rally and praised nepotism in a very embarrassing way. She claimed that she was now the president and surrounded herself with those who lied to her and in turn she gave pressure to her then 93 year old husband who succumbed to pressure and blundered along the way. The hero was reduced to a villain by a malicious woman.

The hero was rested by his blood friends it was said to save him and to save the nation. In the end, it was the security forces, who made him free from his imposing manipulative wife. The disrespect shown by the first lady to all Zimbabweans when she called them cowards made the people unite against the husband. But after a near miss the president showed his courage and perseverance. He had a job to accomplish and he had to fight on till the job was done. He has the country at heart and was prepared to die for it.

And just to be sure, he sought peoples support This made him a man of the people. In order to save the lives of his people the president gave land to the people. This gained him enemies and his name was soiled. This did not stop him from working for his country and his people. 2013, Mugabe showed the people that Mr Tsvangirai had lost a lot of credibility during his years working with Mr Mugabe and he lost dismally and this kept ZANU PF in power till the day he was removed by mistake. Yes because the operation was to remove criminals around him but he got the backlash and was removed too.

The key to understanding Mr Mugabe is the 1970s guerrilla war where he made his name. President Mugabe was. Born in 1924 21 February. TODAY Later trained as a teacher 1964: Imprisoned by Rhodesian government. Did his law wile in prison and finished a number of degrees. He stayed resolute and principled in his purpose IN 1880 The president led ZANU to winning ways and winning became synonymous with ZANU PF. The cracking point came in 1996 when he Marries Grace Marufu. That was the unseen starting of the problems. Marrying young girls is a Recipe of danger. The coming into politics of Grace and her refusal to take advice dragged the president in a dip end. Mugabes agility was compromised by his age and his enemies and his wife were quick to notice it. She elbowed those around Mugabe and replaced them with the young men she protected from their crimes. Ignored national justice and created an inhuman way of justice. In all this Mugabe kept silent maybe out of age maybe out of love.

Botswana’s former president, Ian Khama, has vowed not to rest until stability in his country is restored. Speaking to City Press on Friday night at the Intercontinental Hotel at OR Tambo International Airport, he said he would be seeking external interventions, if need be, to bring his country back to normality. Khama was preparing to catch a flight to attend an event in India - at Dharamshala, the residence of exiled Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the headquarters of the Tibetan government in exile. Under Khama’s presidency, Botswana had been hailed for being a stable democracy. However, the situation has recently destabilised under President Mokgweetsi Masisi ahead of the country’s general elections, set to take place in October.

At the centre of this instability has been political bickering between Masisi and Khama, who has publicly pronounced his support for ex-foreign minister Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi to contest Masisi for the presidency of the governing Botswana Democratic Party (BDP). The BDP will hold its elective congress in May where, for the first time, the party’s presidency will be contested. Khama said he was recently invited to attend a meeting at the headquarters of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in Gaborone by chairperson Dr Hage Geingob, who is also the president of Namibia. "He asked to see me so I can give my side of the story," said Khama.

"He expressed concern as a neighbour, as the chairman of the SADC and as the president in the region. ] precisely because of what we have been saying: that this is not what we expect of Botswana. "I feel guilty because I am caught right in the middle of this ongoing problem, after having tried to move Botswana up the ladder in all areas. Khama said he would speak out in the same manner in which he had confronted former Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe about the crisis in that country. "I am not just going to lie idle and see us lose the ground that we have gained over the years," he said.

Masisi’s administration, said Khama, was not supportive of his visit to India because of its cosy relations with China. Khama said he had not supported the stance of communist China against Tibet during his presidency. He has also been vocal about deals struck by African countries with the Chinese - which, he has warned, were brokered in China’s interests and not in the interests of African states. "During my time as president, I felt that this was an affront to our sovereignty as a country and that we can’t be told who we can and cannot meet. "As I said earlier on, this was particularly the case given that China is not a democracy like we are. ] there issues of peace, compassion and unity. "Surely you cannot fault that.

Khama said his relations with Masisi’s government have deteriorated to such an extent, he has to constantly fight to receive some of his privileges as the former president, even though these are prescribed in the country’s Constitution. He cited instances where he has been refused access to modes of transport, including aircraft, to enable him to carry out his community outreach programmes. This, Khama said, was an attempt to frustrate him. He added that people close to Masisi had told him that the president was misusing his powers to erode Khama and his family’s legacy. ] by erasing some of the policies that I was involved with, to try to isolate me from these kinds of national events, and not have any recognition of me at all".

Speaking about tensions and divisions within his party, Khama said that recently in his home village, there was a large meeting of party members, who were upset about the developments in Botswana and had gathered to air their views. However, a couple of days ago, a list of the names of those councillors who were present at the meeting and who support Venson-Moitoi was circulated, proposing that they be suspended for attending the meeting. Khama said the meeting was not illegal because in Botswana freedom of assembly is guaranteed even by his party’s Constitution. "If the councillors were to be suspended, I hear people say, all those who gathered there feel that there should be a mass walkout from the ruling party. "So, by suspending them, they will be reducing the number of people who will be voting for her. We will see whether they will be suspended or not. "But if they do get suspended, it will spark, I think, a revolt in parts of the party. I won’t rule out the possibility that there could be a split," Khama said.

Harare — A play that was banned by Robert Mugabe about a 1980s government crackdown in which rights groups say 20,000 civilians were killed has been performed in Zimbabwe for the first time. The play, 1983, The Dark Years, was banned by the censors in 2012, but following November’s de facto military coup against Mugabe, its director feels political freedoms are improving. President Emmerson Mnangagwa, was Mugabe’s security minister at the time and many say he played a big role during the Gukurahundi massacres — making the play’s airing, just months after he took power, even more significant. Adrian Musa, told Reuters after the show.

In the local Shona language, Gukurahundi means "the early rain that washes away the chaff". The massacres began after Mugabe said his government had discovered weapons hidden by former liberation fighters belonging to the Zimbabwe African People's Union (PF-Zapu), led by his rival Joshua Nkomo, who he accused of plotting an insurgency. During Mugabe’s near 40-year rule, few families and victims, mostly minority Ndebeles, spoke openly about the Gukurahundi offensive carried out by a North Korean-trained brigade. Mugabe has called the period a "moment of madness". The play is set in Gwanda, south-west Zimbabwe, which experienced some of the worst atrocities.

Zimbabwe's top hospital Parirenyatwa has run out of basic necessities like betadine and painkillers it has been revealed. The issue came out during a meeting between Minister of Health Obadiah Moyo and Senior doctors on Wednesday. The doctors and consultants have put down tools citing inadequate equipment to use to treat patients and saying they are now producing deformed patients. Businessman Mutumwa Mawere responded to Kahiya saying maybe the government is blaming Chamisa for what is befalling the hospitals. Parirenyatwa Hospital Dr Azza Mashumba broke down today whilst explaining the terrible situation at the hospital to Minister of Health. Parirenyatwa has no bandages, no betadine, no painkillers, no gloves, ICU machines have broken down.

Robert Mugabe and his wife will receive a "golden handshake" worth many millions of dollars as part of a deal negotiated before the resignation of the ageing autocrat last week. 5m" immediately, with more paid in coming months. 150,000 salary will also be paid until his death. The 52-year-old first lady, reviled for her extravagance and greed, will then receive half that amount for the rest of her life. Mugabe’s 37-year rule left Zimbabwe with a worthless currency, massive debts, an impoverished population and an estimated unemployment rate of more than 80%. Roads are rutted, many rural communities have no electricity, education is basic and healthcare almost non-existent.

A life expectancy of 60 is one of the lowest in the world. The first couple will be able to remain in their sprawling mansion known as the Blue Roof, in Harare. The state will pay for their medical care, domestic staff, security and foreign travel. A second official defended the agreement, made early last week after protracted negotiations between senior politicians close to the new president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, and representatives of Mugabe. Mnangagwa was sworn in on Friday in a colourful ceremony before tens of thousands of people in Harare’s main stadium. The 75-year-old stalwart of the ruling Zanu-PF party promised a new era for his country, and said that he would govern for "all Zimbabweans".
